The Berkeley Population Center was founded in 2005 to promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration focused on all aspects of population studies. Signature themes include reproduction and HIV; health disparities; inequalities and opportunities; behavioral economics; and formal demography.

The Berkeley Population Center was founded in 2005 to promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration focused on all aspects of population studies. Signature themes include reproduction and HIV; health disparities; inequalities and opportunities; behavioral economics; and formal demography.

The Population Center’s faculty come from UC Berkeley’s Departments of Anthropology, Demography, Economics, History, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Statistics, as well as from the School of Public Health; Haas School of Business; Environmental Science, Policy, and Management; and Agricultural and Resource Economics.

The Center continues a 50-year old tradition of population research at UC Berkeley, and also fosters collaboration with University of California campuses at Los Angeles, San Francisco, Irvine, and Davis, as well as Stanford University.
